Making a Deal They Can’t Refuse: Nonprofit Management Basics for Chapter Leaders

Making a deal that can't be refused often seems daunting to chapter leaders who are struggling to fill board vacancies, plan and fun programs, and build the sort of community of learners that is at the heart of a successful ASTD chapter. By exploring the roles and responsibilities board members assume in a nonprofit organization, attendees will leave with a clearer picture of how to make their chapters thrive in a sustainable fashion.
During this webcast we will look for best practices in updating bylaws, board member job descriptions, strategic plans, and other critically important organizational documents. We will also look at simple ways to engage members and prospective members in an ongoing effort to create vibrant, vital, sustainable chapters that meet the needs of those they serve. Participants will:
- Gain, and be ready to apply, a working knowledge of teh roles and responsibilities they assume as members of a nonprofit Board of Directors in an ASTD chapter.
- Analyze, evaluate, and respond to nonprofit organization's shortcomings in having up-to-date bylaws, job descriptions, strategic plans, and other basic structural/organizational tools.
- Learn to use a variety of tools and chapter resources to implement their mission, vision, and value statements to the benefit of those they serve.
